Making a Change – Three Steps to Creating What You Want
“The all-pervading energy of intention pulses through you toward your potential for a purposeful life.”
— Wayne W. Dyer
“What shape waits in the seed of you to grow and spread its branches against a future sky?”
— David Whyte
Your life is a living work of art. It is the masterpiece of your unique creation. An invisible, dynamic field of Intelligent Energy is the medium you use to create what you want and how you want it. You are the director of that energy with your thoughts and feelings.
Traditionally, “Intention” is defined as a purpose, aim, desire, or a determination to produce a particular result. I suggest that Intention is all of that and at essence, it is pure potential — the shapes that wait in the seed of you — the shapes that wait for you to call them forth. By setting your sights on what you want, you build creative tension—a dynamic between what IS on the one end (present) and what you desire on the other end (future). That creative tension will begin to pull you toward what it is you want, hence movement. As Wayne Dyer says, “Nature simply progresses in harmony from the field of intention.”
You are creating what you want and what you don’t want, moment to moment ,with your thoughts and feelings. Look around. Is everything in your life the way you want it? If not, check your thoughts and feelings. If there is something you are not happy with, anything that does not light you up, bring you joy, or bring you pleasure, set your intention for what you DO want.
The First Step for Change is Two-Fold
- Acknowledge your discomfort.
- Acknowledge your desire for something better.
When you wake up your awareness to something you are tolerating that is less than what you desire — less than what honors you as a worthy — then you can open your heart to something better.
The Second Step – Declare Your Intention
Declare what it is that you truly want. Write it down and/or share it with others, but not just any others. Share your intention with people who will support and celebrate the changes you want to make. Some people near you might be threatened by your desire for change. Supportive witnesses will reflect your commitment, celebrate your courage, and hold you accountable to yourself.
The Third Step – Take Action
Walk your talk. Identify some baby steps and start taking them. You will accelerate the manifestation of your intention by being in action.
Manifesting your Intention:
- Acknowledge your awareness and desire – CLARITY
- Declare your Intention – FOCUS
- Take action – ACTION
Inquiry: How well are my intentions focused and aligned with what I want to create?
“Action creates change, not talking about it. ”
— David Clarke
